General FAQs

Are there any changes to my FedEx Freight agreements and earned discounts post-separation?

In November, all FedEx Freight customers received an email indicating that their agreement(s) is being assigned to FedEx Freight, Inc. as a stand-alone company. For details about your existing customer transportation agreement(s) please click here.

In the event you have an active agreement with combined earned discount tiers with FedEx and/or FedEx Freight, you will be notified that your tiers have been separated before June 1, 2026. The FedEx Discount Detail Tool (FDDT) will be updated to reflect your separated tiers.

No action is needed on your part. Your day-to-day account management and service levels will remain unchanged, and you will continue to work with your existing representatives, systems, and support teams.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the changes further, please don’t hesitate to contact your FedEx and/or FedEx Freight sales representative.

Will my service be disrupted during the transition?

No. Your service will continue uninterrupted—and you'll soon see improvements in booking, billing, and tracking.

What happens to my pricing agreements and discounts?

We'll begin separating parcel and LTL agreements in early spring 2026. If your agreement renews before that, we'll separate it then. Until that happens, your current pricing agreement remains in effect. FedEx will use your historical shipping data to create comparable discounts for each new agreement.

Your Earned Discounts will continue separately for LTL and parcel shipments.

Will FedEx Freight still be a part of the FedEx Rewards program after it's separated from FedEx?

No. FedEx Freight shipments will no longer earn FedEx Rewards points after April 30, 2026.

Will I need a new login for FedEx Freight?

We'll provide clear instructions on updating login paths as we migrate LTL tools to the new FedEx Freight website. Your access to tracking, billing, automation, and historical shipping data will remain available.

Will my FedEx Freight service options change?

No. You can still get commercial and residential delivery with FedEx Freight® Priority, FedEx Freight® Priority Plus, FedEx Freight® Economy, and FedEx Freight Direct. FedEx Custom Critical® and other specialized LTL freight shipping services will also remain available.

Why is FedEx Freight separating from FedEx?

As two independent businesses, FedEx and FedEx Freight can now drive innovation and investment distinctive to each business and attract investors who are the best fit for its specific financial situation and goals. This ensures both have the right support to grow and thrive. This change makes it easier for people who invest in our business to see the individual performance and future plans of each company. They can then choose to invest in one or both companies based on their unique strengths.

What's most important for you to know is that the reliable service and excellent support you've come to expect from us will not change. Both companies will continue to provide the same speed and coverage you rely on.

As an independent company, FedEx Freight is investing in our LTL sales organization and technology solutions—and scaling fast. The result? An outstanding delivery experience with data-driven, personalized service.

Do I need a new FedEx account for FedEx Freight?

No. You can continue to use your FedEx Freight-enabled account number. If you don't have freight enabled on your account, reach out to your Sales Rep.

Automation FAQs

Can I still use FedEx Ship Manager® software with FedEx Freight?

Yes. However, your FedEx Ship Manager software needs to be updated to version 400x before May 31, 2026, to process FedEx Freight shipments. This version provides comprehensive LTL functionality as well as other beneficial features.

Version 400x is currently available to download here. If you already have an older version of the software, you should receive a notification when new updates are available. Simply click “Install now” when prompted.

Open files, active programs, virus protection, and firewalls can interfere with the FedEx Ship Manager software installation. Please close all of these before installing.

If you have issues or do not receive a prompt, contact Technical Support at 1.877.339.2774 and say “FedEx Ship Manager Software” when prompted.

Can I still use FedEx Web Services with FedEx Freight?

FedEx Web Services is being retired on June 1, 2026. FedEx Freight is currently migrating customers to RESTful FedEx APIs. For comprehensive LTL capabilities, you must upgrade to the RESTful FedEx API or another LTL-supported solution before June 1, 2026. If you’re already using the RESTful FedEx API, no additional action is needed.

To maintain service, all current SOAP based Web Services customers must:

  1. Register for the new RESTful APIs at the FedEx Developer Portal.
  2. Migrate all existing Web Services processes to the new FedEx APIs.
  3. Disable or remove existing Web Services code.

To learn more, visit the FedEx Developer Portal. If you have any questions about the upgrade, please contact Technical Support at 1.877.339.2774.

Can I still place LTL orders using FedEx Ship Manager® at fedex.com?

No. As of May 2, 2025, FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com no longer supports LTL capabilities. Instead, you can ship freight directly on fedexfreight.com.
